041. So today was a bit of a grumpy day. And on grumpy days, there is always one music to slit your wrists to song that I just have to listen to at least 5 times. And then that song reminds me of another one, and another... and then suddenly its hours later, and Ive listened to all sorts of stuff from my CDs, and even more from You tube, and being grumpy is way in the past. Started with Leonard Cohen, and he really had amazing backing vocals on some of his tracks -women like Jennifer Warnes and Sharon Robinson, who have superb voices, and should be famous for their own stuff. Well, I guess Jennifer Warnes is. And that led to a couple of my local favourites - Lani Pieters backing up Rian Malan, and Loandi Boersma with Piet Botha. And Koos Kombuis has some awesome backup vocals, but have never managed to find out who they are. Which makes the happystuff for today the incredible female vocalists who lift songs from good to superb, and very seldom get much praise. #100happydays
