06-18-2013 Daily Devotional - By Brother Sam 1 John 4:18 (KJV) 18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. This may seem like a hard saying to comprehend for many Christians and it was for me as well. So many things we may understand intellectually but that isn’t the same as putting it into gear where the rubber meets the road so to speak. There are many Christians around the world that must practice this Kind of Love that dispels all fear. The practice what Christ himself told his followers and disciples to do, Love your enemies. Many countries don’t tolerate Christians in their country, Islamic and communist countries come to mind but they are not the only ones. Some “Christian” countries don’t tolerate Christians who because of faith don’t follow the status quo or common behavior of others. An example of what I am speaking about would be a Preacher in Soweto, South Africa named Benjamin Dube. The old minority white run government created a lot of hatred and mistrust in that country. During the turbulent times Benjamin preached messages of Love, Hope and Forgiveness to his people. Many took offence to this and Benjamin told them that Jesus loved all of us whether black or white and they threatened Benjamin’s life that they would kill him if he didn’t change his message. We need Hate of the white men they told him. Benjamin believed their threats as real but prayed for them and not only him but he had his wife Grace and his children to pray for those who threatened him also, and he never changed what he preached. He called his family together and told them that they were going to kill him but don’t hate the men that do, pray for them instead. Benjamin knew his life was at stake and he trusted in the Lords will for his life. Though he was sure that these men would kill him he didn’t fear them he prayed for them. Sometimes faith is not the easy road we wish it to be but Benjamin figured that the suffering in this world for the sake of our Lord Jesus was not close in comparison to the Glory to come in the presents of our Lord. One day these men stopped Benjamin’s car and in front of his own son stabbed him to death. Grace and her son still pray for the killers. Not only Christ but I read of believers like Benjamin and other martyred for their Faith and I know that I am not worthy to tie any of their shoe laces. Father God we humbly thank you for your Holy Spirit’s guidance in our lives as believers and his presents as he seals us until the time of redemption. Thank you for the testimony of the saints who have walked a road that glorifies the faith you placed into their hearts. Amen By Permission Shlumiyel Ministries - Outreach for Jesus Christ! shlumiyelministries@gmail
