06-23-2013 Daily Devotional - By Brother Sam Philippians 2:3 (KJV) 3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. In the world we are constantly encouraged to “take charge”, be in control of, or to be the boss of our work, our classes, even our families. We struggle with others in trying to have our way and show out when we think we have been slighted and that serves Satan just fine. As Christians he has lost our soul so he now seeks to destroy our witness. Not many can or will yield and subject themselves to other of authority even in the church as did John the Baptist. John 3:30 (KJV) 30 He must increase, but I must decrease. Oh you might say but I would also yield to the Lord. Then the reply must be than why not Obey him? Matthew 23:11 (KJV) 11 But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. We all must Pray about this and as it is a humanistic trait that Satan uses against us continually. There is an old short story that I heard or read a number of years ago about an old priest that Satan had sent some of his demons to corrupt and after a few weeks Satan was checking to see how they progressed. To his surprise the demons hadn’t made a dent in their work and so Satan asked then them what they had been trying until then and found they had offered all the usual enticements to no avail. He was know as a humble priest and brother to a very charismatic preacher. So Satan when he heard they had no luck drawing him from the Lord told his minions let me show you how to do this and he went over to the humble priest and whispered something into his ear and the demons witnessed as the priest continence visibly fell as the smile left his face. The demons crowded around Satan wanting to know what he could have told him to get such a response? Without shame Satan told them I just whispered your brother was just made Bishop. Lord help us to Grow more in our Faith and our walk into the likeness of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Thank you and Praise your name.
