07/31/2013 Marijuana Eradication a Joint Effort Margaret Wadsworth Nichols According to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, agents with the Alabama State Troopers Aviation Unit in a helicopter observed a female cutting marijuana plants beside a residence in the Cloudland community around 2 pm on Tuesday. They alerted agents with the Cherokee County Drug Unit who in turn notified Chattooga County Georgia deputies who responded to the scene until narcotics agents from Cherokee County could arrive. Officers located the woman and the marijuana plants. Margaret Wadsworth Nichols, age 45, was arrested and charged with trafficking marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and tampering with physical evidence. Personnel from the Department of Human Resources also responded to the scene due to a minor child being present. Nichols is currently being housed at the Cherokee County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
