1 - Egg Hatchery: Four hundred miles Northwest of Roswell, New Mexico where in 1947 reports of a crashed flying saucer consumed the airwaves, is the De Na Zin Wilderness Area. In a remote corner of this desolate wasteland are what appear to be the fossilized remains of a long abandoned alien egg farm. Pristine fossils, of hatched eggs complete with the piercing eyes and long skeletal fingers of their inhabitants litter the landscape. Words can’t describe the eeriness of this place. As I sat here and waited for the sun to lower in the horizon, I can’t recall a location where I have been more on edge. All the normal sounds of life returning to the desert at dusk seemed amplified and as the eggs began to glow with the final rays of sun, I realized my nerves would simply not allow me to spend the night camped out here as planned. I stuck it out as long as I could to get the last moments of sun, then by the light of my headlamp I made the 3 mile trek back to my vehicle, my heart skipping a beat at every sound coming from the darkness behind me. I slept in peace in the back seat of my Jeep, as far away from the De Na Zin as possible.
