1/19, 3 PM - 2014 Martin Luther King Holiday Events in Bastrop County Location: Paul Quinn African Methodist Episcopal Church, 1108 Walnut, Bastrop Contact: Tom Scott, 512-303-0760, The 27th Annual Bastrop Martin Luther King Scholarship Program will be held on Sunday, January 19th at the Paul Quinn African Methodist Episcopal Church at 1108 Walnut at 3 pm in Bastrop. The program is the main fundraising event for the scholarship committee and allows the local community to come together as they celebrate the life of one of America’s most admired leaders. The program will feature music by award winning musician Hannibal Lokumbe with additional vocal selections by students under the direction of Bill Owens. Bastrop Mayor Terry Orr and Bastrop County Judge Paul Pape will bring greetings from the community as well as other local leaders and members of the scholarship committee. Donations collected at the program will be used to provide scholarships for students at Bastrop and Cedar Creek High Schools. A reception will follow the program.
