1/22/2014, 7:59 AM Psalm 38:3 There is no soundness in my flesh because of thine anger; neither is there any rest in my bones because of my sin. 4 For mine iniquities are gone over mine head: as an heavy burden they are too heavy for me. We need to note that this Psalm was written after his sin with Bathsheba. That with all else that happened was bad enough to cause him the worst toll emotionally, and psychologically. These could have been a self encouraged sickness, though he interpreted it as God caused. When we repent, and we have been forgiven we need to move on in God, and yet our past tries to hang on as a weight to hold us down, and back. If God forgives us who are we to not forgive ourselves. He sounds as if this may have been written while he was seeking God for forgiveness, and help. 3 There is no soundness in my flesh because of thine anger; neither is there any rest in my bones because of my sin. Such pain in soul, and heart to bear, press in then to His loving care. God doesnt delight in where He must allow us to be brought, but knows so well we must be taught. Even to the understanding that its not God, its our sin that has opened the door to all the hurt, and affliction. 4 For mine iniquities are gone over mine head: as an heavy burden they are too heavy for me. Drowning With Weight Added To Keep Us Down The oppression, and depression that chased after David at this stage of his life, but he had the sense, and the will to purpose himself in God for the answer, and the strength in the place of prayer. 5 My wounds stink and are corrupt because of my foolishness. ALL SIN IS FOOLISHNESS, AS ITS BUILT ON INSTABILITY, UNCERTAINTY, AND DEATH David was getting the message, and he wanted to be forgiven, and he wanted his sin to be forgotten. The first is easy enough because of Gods mercy, but the second is more difficult, as sin leaves a trail of one sort, or another. It infects us as we fail to our weakness, and then it effects us, and others thereafter our failures can become the zombies of our lives, dont let them, as God doesnt forgive you to be punished, He forgives you to set you free. Free At Last Free at last, forget the past, Live out His truth divine. Now your life is cast, With God to so entwine. Free at last, praise God, hold fast, Let not the good life go. Hold on let Him make it last, In Him to ever grow.
