1. Anyone wanting to become a U.S. citizen must fill out an application and submit after which the applicant will be investigated before issuing temporary status which could take up to a year, be Thorough and complete (this is the legal way). 2. Upon approval of temporary status the applicant will be required to be able to read, write and speak English fluently through classes(we would have to learn the language of other countries if we lived abroad). 3. Must be able to pass standard citizenship test (already required) 4. Must show poof of employment Within 1 year of the granting of citizenship ( no automatic welfare and/or other handouts) no job , no help and this part also goes for natural American citizens as well, but thats another rant altogether. Once all the above are met then you can become a LEGAL citizen. now if your NOT LEGAL: 1. Automatic deportation, just because you have a child here does not give you or the child automatic citizenship (goes without saying). 2. Employers who hire illegals will be very heavily fined and could face shut down of their business and jail time and their assets seized and sold. ( I would like to see some of my tax dollars used for extra enforcement, the fines would also help pay for some of the extra enforcement). No jobs for illegals slows the flow way down. Our country was founded on immigrants who came here legally many years ago ,coming through Ellis Island(before it was closed) to be checked and processed before fully entering the United States. Im not anti-immigrant I just want to see legal immigration. Im sure I missed a lot in all of this. Illegal immigration is a major drain on our economy. One thing I missed wall up the Mexican border better from one end to another(no cheap fences, high concrete walls all the way and border guards allowed to do their job. Im sure the above would need a little tweaking here and there, and Im sure a little of this is law and if thats the case enforce it. The two older pictures are of Ellis Island during its immigrant processing days.
