1 Corinthians 14:26 Well, my brothers and sisters, let’s summarize. When you meet together... I can imagine that the chaos that was defined as the Corinthian Church would have been a little bit more than I could have handled. Yet, even with all of that going on, they would still meet. I wonder what Paul would have thought about doing church online, do you think he would have approved? There are all kinds of cyber churches popping up everywhere. I think that much of what is important about us meeting together is completely missed when we dont....meet....together. These online churches are a fantastic way to supplement our meeting together, but we should not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing (Hebrews 10:25) An entire family huddled around a computer screen singing worship songs together is not the same thing as having church. I dont think that the Corinthians were so much struggling with the thought of having church via their cell phones, but they were definitely struggling to understand what is ok and what is not ok as far as meeting together as the body of Christ. They were treating their meeting times as time to get together to show off their spiritual gifts. Often times we go to church to show off...or to search for that feel good experience. You can hear that in phrases like Worship wasnt that good this morning or I didnt really get anything from worship HA! Worship is not there for you sucka! Believers should gather together to build each other up, to hear from and hear about Gods Word, and to speak to God through community prayer and praise. Yes, we look for the Spirit to move among us and to witness miraculous things happening that build us up and are for the good of the group. There is freedom in that, but with boundaries. The Holy Spirit can accomplish more in 1 second than we could in a million lifetimes, so surely He can operate within the boundaries of service times and building limits. What is your attitude about church? Are you chasing that spiritual high every week? Are you lacking substance and spiritual sustenance? Are you part of a social club? How are you serving other members of Christs body? It is your duty, and it should be your hearts desire...
