1. Deferred action for Parents Parents of U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents (of any age) who have been continuously present in the US since 1/1/10, and who pass background checks and pay taxes, will be eligible to apply for deferred action, which will be granted for a 3-year period. Qualified applicants will be able to obtain work authorization, a social security number, driver’s license, and will be protected against deportation. These applications can be filed in 180 days. 2. Expansion of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA)- under the new policy, there are no restrictions regarding the age cap and the applicant must prove entry into the US prior to January 1, 2010. The new DACA will be granted for a 3 year period (including those cases that are currently pending). Qualified applicants will be able to obtain work authorization, a social security number, driver’s license, and will be protected against deportation. These applications can be filed in 90 days.
