1. Historical overview of SADIL – TOGO In September 2007, two AIESEC friends (Dutch and Togolese) visited ten rural communities in the Central and Plateau regions of Togo: it struck them how underprivileged children (e.g. orphans or children that were involved in child trafficking) did not have the same opportunities for education; they end up last in line. The two friends then decided to help this specific group. They wanted to help these children and youths to get access to education, and support them towards a sustainable source of income for the future. During a Constitutive General Assembly, the organization “Structure d’Appui pour le Développement des Initiatives Locales au Togo (SADIL - TOGO)” was created. The organization was created on 2 February 2008 in Lomé (Togo), and on 3 June 2008, SADIL – TOGO was officially recorded under N°1809/MAT-DCL (Ministry of Territorial Administration, Decentralization and Local Communities) as a national association of sustainable development, with a non-profit, apolitical and non-religious purpose. Its Headquarter and the Executive Branch are in Tchamba (Tchamba District) with a regional office in Sotouboua.
