1. Smriti Irani has discrepancy in her affidavits which is wrong. She should go as per law. 2. Her qualifications are not very important. Comparison to Sonia Gandhi is also irrelevant. I, as a teacher, have seen people from elite institutes doing well and doing horribly. At the same time people with not so great qualifications are equally good or bad at doing things. The failure of our system to produce anything beyond rote machines is the reason for educational qualifications to not matter much in life. 3. It was refreshing to see the MEA, Sushma Swaraj, talk in terms of trade relations and her priority list indicates that India thinks that Africa is crucial to Indian interests. To sustain economic growth in the future we shall need more footprint in Africa. India does not even have diplomatic relations with many African countries. I expect Sushma Swaraj to be traveling more often to Africa for embassy inauguration, but more crucially in search of economic tieups, aid giving opportunities and thus compete with China for oil, copper and other important minerals, plus a portion of the tremendous market there. Also expect trade to happen in Indian rupees to make the system forex-shock proof. 4. A debate on article 370 will not jeopardise anything. Instead of a twitter war, National Conference should be putting forward its views in the parlia....... Oh wait, they have no MPs. © Ankur Jain, 2014
