1) TERENGANU 2008: Royalty 1 - Political Party 0 After GE12 in 2008, BN won 24 out of 32 DUN seats in Terengganu. PM Pak Lah put forth the reappointment of Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh to be reappointed as Menteri Besar. However, the Sultan of Terengganu, Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin, who was also our Agong then refused to re-appoint Idris. The Sultan appointed Ahmad Said instead for the job, The PM claimed that the appointment of Ahmad Said was unconstitutional as it went against the wishes of the ADUNs supported Idris Jusoh. UMNO then announced they have sacked Ahmad Said for disobeying party instructions as he had accepted the appointment as MB. which technically disqualifies him to be appointed as Menteri Besar. UMNO also planned to vote down the sultans choice through a motion of no-confidence by 22 UMNO state assemblymen. PAS however threw their support behind Ahmad Said as Menteri Besar.[ A few days later Pak Lah and Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin met at Istana Negara to resolve the deadlock. As a result of that meeting, Pak Lah reversed his stance and decided to accept the Kings appointment of Ahmad Said as Menteri Besar. Pak Lah also apologized to the King. The apparent backdown was due to threat that the Sultan would be prepared to dissolve the state assembly if the motion of no-confidence was initiated against Ahmad Said, The UMNO Supreme Council proceeded to reinstate his membership and endorsed Ahmad Said as the new Menteri Besar of Terengganu. --- 2) PERLIS 2008: Royalty 2 - Political Party 0 After GE12 in 2008, BN won 14 out of 15 DUN seats in Perlis. PM Pak Lah put forth the reappointment of Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim to be reappointed as Menteri Besar for his fourth term. However, the Raja Perlis Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Syed Putra Jamalullail , refused to re-appoint and swear in Shahidan as Menteri Besar. On 14 Mar 2008, Pak Lah announced in Putrajaya that he has appointed Shahidan as the MB of Perlis. But at the same time, in Kangar Perlis, the private secretary to the Raja of Perlis made a press statement proclaiming that the Raja of Perlis, under the powers in the state constitution bestowed upon him, has the final prerogative in the appointment of the MB. On 15 Mar 2008 Tuanku appointed Md Isa Sabu as Menteri Besar instead as Md Isa Sabu says he has the support of 9 out of the 15 ADUNs. Pak Lah then met with 10 Perlis ADUNs in the PM Office and decided that Md Isa had the majority support and agreed with Tuankus decision. Two days later, Md Isa Sabu was officially sworn in as Menteri Besar of Perlis. --- What about Selangor in 2014?
