1 Timothy 1:15-17 This saying is trustworthy and deserves full acceptance: “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners”—and I am the worst of them! But here is why I was treated with mercy: so that in me as the worst, Christ Jesus could demonstrate his utmost patience, as an example for those who are going to believe in him for eternal life. Now to the eternal king, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever! Amen. I can’t help but to laugh a little bit as Paul refers to himself as the “chief” of sinners. (NKJV) I laugh because I think the same thing sometimes. Is it possible that Paul sinned worse than me? Is it even right to look at sin like that? Paul’s story is one of 180 degrees. He was going full force one direction and persecuting the church, Jesus Christ Himself, and there was really no stopping him. Then he encounters Jesus on the Damascus road and everything changes. Everything. From that encounter, Paul’s life changes into a testimony of God’s grace, patience, mercy, and unfailing love. Paul’s salvation testifies that there is no distance or depth that can dodge God’s sovereignty or the election of His chosen people. God hears you and knows you, and He most certainly can reach you and change everything. Verse/Commentary courtesy of Verse-A-Day app. verse-a-day/Apps
