1. Union Finance Ministry constituted High Level Committee to hear industrys tax issues he Union Finance Ministry constituted a High Level Committee (HLC) to interact with trade and industry on tax-related issues on a regular basis. The high level committee will be headed by former Chief Economic Advisor (CEA) Ashok Lahiri. Other two members of the committee are Sidhartha Pradhan, retired member of the Settlement Commission (Income Tax and Wealth Tax) and Gautam Ray, retired DG (Audit) of the Customs and Central Excise. 2. SC constituted Social Justice Bench to deal with social issue Supreme Court set up a Social Justice Bench to exclusively hear cases related to women, children and underprivileged. The apex court set up the special bench in lieu of the specialized approach needed for dealing with such social issues. The newly constituted two-judge SC bench will be headed by Justice Madan B Lokur and comprises of Justice U U Lalit as member. The bench will assemble every Friday at 2 PM from 12 December 2014 onwards. The Social Justice Bench is a brainchild of Chief Justice of India H L Dattu to ensure early disposal of the pending cases related to social justice so that the masses will realize the fruits of the rights provided to them by the Constitution. 3. East Zone won 2014-15 Deodhar Trophy of cricket East Zone won the 2014-15 Deodhar Trophy of cricket by defeating West Zone by 24 runs. The final match was played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. This was the first Deodhar Trophy win for East Zone after 11 seasons. East Zone won the toss and opted to bat first posted 269 for 8 in the stipulated 50 overs. In reply to the target, West Zone bundled out for 245 in 47.2 overs. 4. He played saxophone for the The Rolling Stones, English rock band formed in Kent in 1962. Bobby was most famous for his work with the The Rolling Stones on the classic track Brown Sugar and album Exile On Main Street. Google launches new application for SMBs In a move to create easier online presence for the small and medium businesses (SMBs), Google has launched a new application, Google My Business. The new product is designed to work across desktop and mobile devices, and will enable SMBs to create and update their business info on various Google products such as search, maps and Google plus from one place for free. The users can use the service in Hindi and English. 9. World Bank, ADB to assist AP in Hudhud cyclone relief works Teams from World Bank and ADB now on a visit here have assured the Andhra Pradesh Government to assist the State in Cyclone Hudhud rehabilitation works. The World Bank Country Director Omno Rahl and Country Director of Asian Development Bank (ADB) Theresakho today called on State Chief Secretary IYR Krishna Rao at the secretariat for an update on the relief and rehabilitation works of the cyclone Hudhud damages in the state. During the meeting some of the Secretaries made presentations on cyclone Hudhud relief and rehabilitation works. The World Bank team lead by Tarun Bajaj, Joint Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs participated in an hour long presentations by Secretaries on the rehabilitation works of cyclone. 10. Shiv Sena to be part of Fadnavis ministry The 34-day-old Devendra Fadnavis-led ministry in Maharashtra will be expanded tomorrow, amid indications of a “patch up” with former ally Shiv Sena. Twelve Shiv Sena ministers, including five (in) cabinet (rank), will be sworn in tomorrow, Mr. Fadnavis said here on Thursday. The ceremony will be held at Vidhan Bhawan premises at 4 pm, an official said. Mr. Fadnavis had met BJP president Amit Shah in New Delhi on Tuesday and is believed to have got the nod for BJP probables in the expansion exercise. Presently there are eight cabinet and two ministers of state in the Fadnavis ministry sworn in on October 31. 11. Sehwag, Harbhajan, Zaheer, Gambhir not in WC probables list The national selectors on Thursday announced the 30-member probables list for the ICC Cricket World Cup to be held in Australia and New Zealand in 2015. The selectors more or less maintained the team which played against West Indies and Sri Lanka in the recently concluded ODI series.
