1 month ago today my girls had a terrible fight in the hockey rink behind my house. After ER vet visit and multiple vet follow ups with our regular vet (I literally love you, Dr. Griffiths) later the all clear was given last Friday. After 3 weeks of lockdown they saw each other for the first time without a barrier and it didnt go great. This week weve been working really hard. I spent hours and hours reviewing in my head, what did I miss, what triggered them to go at each other like that. How do you live and love each other for almost 2 years and get this result........the only answer I could come up with was I let my guard down and should have known better. So we started short, successful interactions multiple times a day and then back on lockdown. I think its been one of the hardest, most stressful months of my life. We still have a lot of work to do but........this my friends is HUGE progress. Had I listened to all the negativity and naysayers telling me they will never be able to coexist in the same household again, one of them would be gone and that was/is not an option........EVER. Thanks to all of you that supported me and stayed positive, wiped away my tears and just listened, liked for resources to help and especially you (you know who you are) who told me dont worry, have faith in you. You do so much for those dogs and they know it. Its all gonna work out, just keep loving those dogs like you do. Believe in you like I do.......what a great way to start the day.
