10/14/2014 “And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, a host with horses and chariots was round about the city. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do? And he answered, Fear not; for they that are with us are more than they that are with them. And Elisha prayed, and said, Jehovah, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And Jehovah opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.” 2 Kings 6:15-17 (ASV) Sometimes, life can look very intimidating to us as believers. Yes, we walk by faith, and not by our sight. Even with that spiritual truth in mind, it takes work and time in some cases for us to get it firmly rooted in our minds and hearts. During the process, we can begin to look at all the things that seem like they are against us. It could be tough job situations, difficult family members, financial challenges, health challenges, or even sin issues. They can cause us to say “what shall I do?!” The truth of the matter is, we can find people of the faith who can mentor us through those difficult times. This is exactly what we see in today’s scripture. Elisha was able to see beyond the circumstance and into the spiritual realm! He could see their help! Ask God for people in your life who can see beyond your circumstances and pray on your behalf; in response, God will “open your eyes.”
