10 April 1977: John Short, 49-year-old Catholic civilian was from New Barnsley Crescent. Mr Short was walking along the Springfield Road with relatives when he was shot dead by the IRA. Mr Short was with 3 members of the McMenamin family and another man on their way to tell the family that his nephew, Kevin McMenamin, was killed in an explosion. Police said that Mr Short had no paramilitary connections. As they were walking, a car with 3 gunmen pulled up and opened fire on them. Another man suffered leg wounds in the attack. LEST WE FORGET!
