10 GREAT RON PAUL QUOTES: 1. In the free society envisioned by the founders, schools are held accountable to parents, not federal bureaucrats. 2. Freedom is not defined by safety. Freedom is defined by the ability of citizens to live without government interference. Government cannot create a world without risks, nor would we really wish to live in such a fictional place. Only a totalitarian society would even claim absolute safety as a worthy ideal, because it would require total state control over its citizens’ lives. 3. America was founded by men who understood that the threat of domestic tyranny is as great as any threat from abroad. If we want to be worthy of their legacy, we must resist the rush toward ever-increasing state control of our society. Otherwise, our own government will become a greater threat to our freedoms than any foreign terrorist. 4. Truth is treason in the empire of lies. 5. I am convinced that there are more threats to American liberty within the 10 mile radius of my office on Capitol Hill than there are on the rest of the globe. 6. When one person can initiate war, by its definition, a republic no longer exists. 7. What we give up on is a tyrannical approach to solving a social and medical problem, and We endorse the idea of voluntarism, self-responsibility, family, friends, and churches to solve problems, rather than saying that some monolithic government is going to make you take care of yourself and be a better person. It’s a preposterous notion, it never worked, it never will. The government can’t make you a better person, it can’t make you follow good habits. Why don’t they put you on a diet; you’re a little overweight, and i think you need government help! 8. When the federal government spends more each year than it collects in tax revenues, it has three choices: It can raise taxes, print money, or borrow money. While these actions may benefit politicians, all three options are bad for average Americans. Deficits mean future tax increases, pure and simple. 9. You can’t save free markets by socialism, I don’t know where this idea ever came from. You save free markets by promoting free markets and sound money and balanced budgets. 10. The federal government has no right to treat all Americans as criminals by spying on their relationship with their doctors, employers, or bankers.
