10 books that have stayed with me. Thanks Mike Porath for this diversion. It was actually harder than I thought to come up with only 10. No particular order... 1. The 3 Musketeers, Alexander Dumas -The quintessential adventure book. 2. Anna Karenina, Leo Tolstoy -Turns out he was the only Russian writer I could ever get into. 3. Where the Red Fern Grows, Wilson Rawls - A boy and his dogs. You will cry and cry and cry. (reading it to Griffin and Nina hehe) 4. Of Human Bondage, W Somerset Maugham - the simplest pattern, that in which a man was born, worked, married, had children, and died, was likewise the most perfect. This book is anything but simple. 5. Angle of Repose, Wallace Stegner - The true American west. If you havent read him, you must. 6. The Return of the Native, Thomas Hardy Anything by Thomas Hardy is great 7. The Moviegoer, Walker Percy A glimpse into why old New Orleans is so strange. 8. Lonesome Dove, Larry McMurtry This is a BEAUTIFUL book. The ending still haunts me. 9. Institutes of the Christian Religion, John Calvin Brought up atheist, this book was a monumental undertaking but it clarified most of my misunderstanding about Christianity. 10. Into Thin Air, John Krakauer A scary account of a failed assault of Mt Everest. It still makes me tense just thinking about it. If youve got a few minutes, Id enjoy seeing the list of 10 from you 10 folks: Jose Carlier, Marcia Wagner, Ann Klotz, Caroline Wood, James Donahower, Billy Mitchell, Aimee Hayes Gertrud Borchardt, Grayson Capps Mary Louise Hogarty
