10 years ago this month I had the great fortune of fulfilling every kids dream of playing Madison Square Garden.It was with the mighty Trans-Siberian Orchestra.Ill never forget it as long as I live. 20 years before that I was in a band with my childhood friend Paul ONeill. Paul is the creator of TSO. Back then we had this cool prog rock band called Slowburn. We lived together in a run down railroad flat on the upper east side of New York City.We would wake up at 5PM,go eat breakfast,while everyone else was coming home from work,and then go rehearse all night at this vacated club on 85th Street and Lexington Avenue. Paul always had big ideas. Real big ideas.And like any band,some things sound cool and you go with it,other things you fight about,and say with the utmost conviction What the hell are you talking about? Lets just play some cool shit. But somehow we always were able to do really great things.We recorded at Jimi Hendrixs famous Electric Lady Studios,and the Record Plant,which was a total trip to be around,especially since we were an unsigned band.But Paul always got the impossible done somehow.And now all these years later it has turned into one of the most successful acts in Rock n Roll.So next time someone you know has some crazy idea.Try not to speak. Just listen.
