10 years ago today my wife said go ahead with what I wanted for my birthday. I warned her how tenacious, wild, stubborn and troublesome an Airedale could be. I went to pick her out. There was one female and 3 males left. over right after work because I still wasnt sure if I wanted a male or female. I looked at the father who was fenced in, and when on the fence his head was just shy of my shoulder (I am 65) and went over to meet the mother, who was about 60 pounds and just as relaxed as could be. Blind in one eye from where she got stung by a hornet, but in very good spirits and didnt mind a little petting around the ears. I figured the breed would produce a good size dog, between 60-80 pounds. I wanted a bigger dog, because the dog would be watching over Jen when I was away on travel. I wanted a good guard dog that wouldnt act like a guard dog unless needed. So I went in to look at the litter. I looked down and there was a spry little one jumping around, so I picked him up, then I set him back down thinking, he might be too rambunctious for Jens first time with an Airedale. Over in the corner sleeping was the female. I picked her up, she looked up at me and went right back to sleep while I was holding her. I thought this one would be better so I took her. When I was paying for her the lady asked me if I had thought of any names. I said Daisy. She looked at me and said thats a silly name for an Airedale, dont you think?. I said nope. I put her on my lap, and on the 20 minute ride home I thought wow, she is really hot. Only to look down to see she peed on me.....Thats my Daisy!
