10 years in the fashion industry. From assisting Jj Valaya, Sabyasachi, Rohit Gandhi + Rahul Khanna, and Gaurav Gupta, to my first writing stint with the amazing Meenu whom I still call Mommy, and learning the basics of style from Meetu Booker-Soni, what a journey it has been! Thank you also Sanjiv Bhattacharya, who hired me for GQ, and Arjun Bhasin with whom I first went to Milan and Paris. And of course Mala Sekhri and Sujata Assomull Sippy who hired me for Harpers Bazaar India and grew me up in so many ways, as did Nupur Mehta Puri who now edits her own magazine, Harpers Bazaar Bride. In the process, I found lifelong loves in Karuna, Preetika, Megha, Ekta, Jhelum, Kavita, Mohit, and later, Rochelle, the butter to my bread (though we be far). Thanks much also to Sanjay Kapoor and Deepika Gehani at Genesis Luxury, with whom I learned so much about the other side. Nishat Fatima, you have changed me in so many ways, and all for the better. But it all started in 2001, at NIFT New Delhi, with my amazing teachers Asha Baxi, Vandana Narang, Archana Shastri, Banhi Jha, Sharmila Dua, and so many others. So much gratitude...if I have forgotten anyone, its only because thankfulness doesnt sit well with gushing words such as these, and partners best with reflection. You are all in my prayers.
