Heres how you pay One Hundred dollars for a screwdriver..... 1st go to the Dollar store or Walmart or a similar facsimile, buy a screwdriver for a dollar or two and take it home to complete the task at hand. That is one hour of your time $20,$30,$40 per hour. This is a real job and you need real tools. The screwdriver breaks on the first or second attempt to remove the said screw. You are frustrated and go get another screwdriver, $20,$30,$40,$50 per hour. If you replaced the original screwdriver with the same. You will be making another trip to the hardware store. A good screwdriver may cost you as much as $15/$20. Two or three trips to the store costs you somewhere in the neighbourhood of $60 to $150. Now throw into the equation the host of other disposable items one may purchase, lawn furniture, kitchen utensils......... Blah blah blah blah blah. Now throw into the equation the amount of energy it takes to produce a $1 or $2 item as opposed to a $15 or $20 item(the difference is negligible). Your time and energy, production energy. Hmmmmm????????
