#100WordsOrLess Traffic buzzed past the tea stall and kicked up a storm giving the entire place an unintentional albeit natural sepia hue. She ordered two teas and sat down on the bench beside him. ‘Okay. Now you’re just being stubborn.’ ‘Haha. If you say so.’ ‘No. Seriously. It beats books in every possible way.’ ‘Depends. On how you are judging things.’ ‘See, nostalgia for books is good. But we have to be factual when comparing.’ ‘Alright. You start.’ ‘It wins in storage space hands down. You can put an entire library into a 32GB one.’ ‘Accepted.’ ‘Ease of use – again, much lighter than any book. It is so easy to read Tolstoy or RR Martin without giving your biceps exercise.’ ‘I, for one, need the exercise. And hence, subjective. But accepted.’ ‘Oh oh oh. I just thought of this. The best part. I don’t need to get up to switch off lights in the night.’ ‘Hahaha. Can’t argue with that.’ Strong, sweet and thick tea was served in rimmed glasses by a small hand. Both of them blew vigorously for a second and took a sip. ‘Good tea. Anyway. So you see my point now?’ ‘I see your point. Yes.’ ‘Aaaand? You will agree? Books are outdated?’ ‘Nope.’ ‘Oh come on! You’re just being obstinate.’ ‘Haha. I’ll tell you why books are better. For now, let’s get going. It’s getting late.’ She paid the shopkeeper and both of them got into the car. The tea shop was a few miles in the rear-view mirror and she began to fidget again. ‘I’m bored. Where’s your magazine?’ ‘I left it at the tea shop.’ ‘Tch. Anyway, tell me why books are better?’ ‘I just told you.’ ‘What?’ ‘Just think about who will pick up the book.’ -- The magazine was in the way at first. He shifted it this way and that, while cleaning up the bench – it was his bed for the night. Finally, he rolled it up hoping it’d serve as a decent pillow and let him sleep better. He ended up opening it. It kept him awake for years to come.
