11:10 p.m. update: Women IDd in Greenwood hotel homicide The county Violent Crimes Task Force is investigating a double homicide after two women were found shot dead inside a Greenwood motel room late Wednesday afternoon. Greenwood County Coroner Sonny Cox identified the victims as Elizabeth Brooke Bourne, 34, of 704 Milwee Ave., Greenwood, and 38-year-old Danielle Quinn Graham, of 1784 Poplar Springs Road, Ware Shoals. Both were found inside room 236 of the Greenwood Extended Stay Motel, 919 Montague Ave. Cox noted the womens autopsies will be performed today in Anderson. Law enforcement officials said they have no one in custody and there were no suspects as of Wednesday night. Investigators said a motel maintenance worker found the women inside the room while he was making his rounds just after 5 p.m. Hotel officials said the women had been staying at the inn since Nov. 8, and indicated the women were found in a room beside the one theyd reserved. According to Greenwood Police Department Capt. Nick Futch, a lead investigator for the VCTF, the victims died from apparent gunshot wounds. Officials would not indicate exactly where the women sustained the wounds, and said they had yet to pinpoint an exact time of when they were shot dead. Futch said the maintenance worker found the door partially cracked to the room in which the women were found, and motel employees called 911. There was no immediate determination of a motive behind the slayings. Officials beleive the women were acquaintances. At this point, were going to regroup and just determine which direction to head from here, he said. Were going to start trying to piece together a timeline of who may have last seen these ladies alive and go from there. Were looking for any information from anybody who may have talked with these ladies or been with them in the past couple days. Investigators declined to release exactly where the women were found inside the room. Motel employees said the maintenance worker who found the body had a hard time opening the rooms door as one of the bodies was apparently located near the entrance. There was no word on where the second victim was located. When I found out what happened, I just got cold chills running down my body, said Gina Robinson, who is a clerk at the motels front desk. Its like I cant believe it. Not here. I mean, theres a lot of stuff that has happened here, but nothing ever like this. … We just want everybody to know this is still a safe motel. Just because one stupid person did what theyve done, this is still a safe motel. The Lakelands has been a hotbed of deadly crimes lately. The double homicide is the latest in slate of violent ordeals that have gripped Greenwood, Abbeville and surrounding counties recently. In the last 18 days, area counties endured at least six deadly incidents combined, including a pair of murder-suicides. I dont know that any of them have any connection. Theres no clear indication or understanding of whats necessarily causing all of them, Futch said. So, I guess my reaction right now is that weve been busy. Fortunately, the majority of what weve had so far has been solved. Guests at the motel could be seen outside the facility Wednesday night watching as investigators combed through the area. Several officers canvassed the motel and were seen walking from room to room attempting to talk to residents. Robinson said the recent outbreak of violence in the area is mind boggling. This is crazy, she said. I just cannot believe whats happening in this town the last few weeks, its unbelievable. Because Greenwoods not a big town, but this just blows everybodys mind, especially the ones that happened a couple weeks ago. This is crazy. I dont understand whats going on in this town.
