(11/11/13) Wanted: Engineering Instructors - Scott Community College - Spring 2014 Scott Community College is looking for adjunct instructors for our Introduction to Electrical Sciences and Mechanics of Deformable Bodies courses. For the Intro to Electrical Sciences course, we would be looking for candidates with a BS in Electrical Engineering with PE registration (MS degree preferred). For the Mechanics of Deformable Bodies, the candidate should have a BS in Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering with PE registration (MS degree preferred). Previous teaching experience is desirable. Also, candidates with comparable degrees with significant coursework in these areas are encouraged to apply. EGR:380 Mechanics of Deformable Bodies (3 credits) This course provides an introduction to the mechanics of solids with application to engineering. The primary focus is stress and strain in structural elements resulting from axial, torsional, flexural, and combined loading. Other major concepts include mechanical material properties used to relate stress and strain in common machine elements, beam stresses and deflections, column buckling, and an introduction to energy methods. EGR:285 Introduction to Electrical Sciences (4 credits) This course covers electrical circuit analysis with the goal of developing electrical engineering fundamentals for any engineering discipline. This course consists of a lecture and laboratory session. The primary focus is basic circuit theory, circuit modeling, analytical methods, first-order circuits, basic second-order circuits, and steady state AC circuit analysis. Practical laboratory and engineering skills will be achieved through building various electric circuits and taking electrical measurements. Interested applicants should send an e-mail to Reg Shoesmith (563-441-4177), Adjunct Coordinator. Please include the following information in the e-mail: the class or classes youd be interested in teaching, your resume, and your contact information. For further details contact Ryan Melbard, Math Instructor and Engineering Coordinator @ 563-441-4333.
