11/18/14 - Day 116: Keith was in rare form when I got home from work tonight. I walked in and found Elecia sitting on the couch by herself. I asked where Keith was and she told me that he didnt want to watch tv, or do pretty much anything she suggested, so he was in bed. When he heard me come in, he was ready to re-join us in the living room. I spent the next half hour or so bugging him by asking him questions, tickling him, pulling the hair on his leg; pretty much anything I could do to get him to talk to me. Even if it was to tell me to stop. It was all in good nature and he smiled and laughed at most of it. Decided to give Elecia a break from cooking by going out and bringing in dinner. Asked Keith what he would like for dinner. He chose Chick-Fil-a. When I was getting ready to go, he decided he wanted to go back to bed. But I convinced him that there was a rule that he had to wait on the couch till I got back. It worked. Keith is really missing some of the freedom he had at Jim Thorpe. He was able to to sit in his wheelchair between therapies and roam around the floor. He was quite fast at times. But since we have been home, this activity is just not possible. Our house isnt big enough for him to have enough room to roam. In addition, the carpet doesnt allow him to roll around as easily. We are sensing some frustration. On the other hand, he has been talking a lot today and voicing his opinions. NO seems to be his favorite word. He worked some with us this evening on walking from Elecia to me. May have only been a couple of unassisted steps, but they were his steps.
