We are busy in these days in planning of low cast housing project under the vision of Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Muhammed Nawaz Sharif, said Federal Secretary Housing and works Naveed Akram Cheema During exclusive chat with IMI News Agency here on Sunday. He said that due to substantial increase in cast of land and construction material, construction of house is not in the reach of low income groups and no low cast housing scheme have been launched for last many years at government level. Only Aashiana scheme was successfully launched by Punjab government during the last tenure of Mian Shahbaz Sharif, he added. This scheme is very much popular among the public due its standard and affordability, he further mentioned. But Pakistan is facing shortage of houses, so there is dire need of housing schemes all over the country, he argued. Talking about the construction of 500000 houses for low income groups, he informed that constructed houses of 3 to 5 Marla would be given to poor people all over the country on subsidized rates under this scheme. Different number of houses would be constructed in different of the country according to the local requirement of public and it would be determined after the study of experts. Construction and material standard would not be comprised, Cheema promised saying consultation with international and local experts is going on for making this historic project successful. After approval of terms and conditions, this mega project would with in the period of 3 to 4 months. By launching this project job opportunities would also be created as 51 industry related to construction would also run on full swing, he told. Ministry of Housing is also working on 11 housing projects including Baharakahu Housing Schemes (BHS) for federal government employees, he answered. Journalists and other professionals would also be accommodated in BHS. According proposed plan, 385 plots have been allocated for category 1, 574 for category two, 734 for category 3, 836 for category 4 and 724 for category 5. This scheme would be announced in three months and its development work would be completed in one year against the completion target of two years, he ended.
