11 March 2014 NATIONAL OFFICE MEMORANDUM No. 22 TO : SUBJECT : Series of 2014 BOY SCOUTS OF THE PHILIPPINES NATIONAL OFFICE MANILA Regional Scout Directors, Council Scout Executives and Officers-In-Charge BSP SUPPORTS EARTH HOUR 2014 1. The Earth Hour 2. The event aims to help local communities to adapt to climate change, switch to clean sources of renewable energy, infuse sustainability and send an even stronger message to the world, to take action against global warming. 3. The Boy Scouts of the Philippines is once again extending its full support to the EARTH HOUR 2014 as scheduled on 29 MARCH 2014 (Saturday) from 8:30PM to 9:30PM. 4. Scouts with “Messengers of Peace” profile account at scout.org are advice to upload/update their activities to help contribute in the BSP “Service Hours” and “Service Projects”. 5. All Local Councils are hereby encouraged to participate in this global initiative and call to “TURN OFF” any, if not all non-essential lights on the details specified in the preceding paragraph. Furthermore, we are enjoining all Local Councils to: a. Cascadethisissuancetothedifferentunitswithinyourrespectivejurisdictions b. Promote the activity in your locality via any medium possible and through any social media platforms such as facebook, twitter and alike; c. Release local memorandum in jurisdiction and constituents to join and be part of Earth Hour 2014; d. Organize and document your Troop/Outfit/Circle’s event and send it to WWF- Philippines. e. Sign up at wwf.org.ph/earthhour/ as a show of support to the initiative 6. Formoreinformationyoumayvisittheirwebsiteatwwf.org.ph/earthhour/ 7. Forinformationandwidedissemination. WENDEL E. The event is held worldwide towards the end of March annually, encouraging individuals, communities’ households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights for one hour as a symbol for their commitment to the planet.
