1119 16th Street SW Cedar Rapids: Back for a visit this weekend and its been a while. My father Dave and sister Gail went to have a look at the house we used to live in. My parents bought it in 1954 for $7000 and we lived there until 1967. In the back there was a silver maple tree that was just big enough for me and the neighbor kids to climb up into and once a decade Ive gone back and checked on how the tree is doing. Its gotten to be huge but its very old for a silver maple. Still,its doing better than the house. This time the house was empty because of being flooded by the heavy rain in the spring and everything inside had been removed and the door was left unlocked. We went in and had a look around. Lots of memories returned to us there. The neighbor said it was now a rental unit. Unfortunately it was in very bad shape.
