#1150- my fiancé and I have just been trying to deal with school expenses. She works and supports me at the moment, and its getting to be too much for her. However, I am reluctant to take out loans, and until recently was not aware a living allowance from student aid Alberta was an option. However, the 941 to 2000$ a month would jump my debt from 12,000$ by the end of the four years to almost 60,000$ and part of the reason I chose to go to school in the first place was 24,000 tops is very affordable. We have started looking into military college since I want to serve when I get out anyways, but arent necessarily sure its the best option. Yet, it pays. Money wasnt problem when I worked as an Electrician, but now has become a huge stress, and my fiancés, being a massage therapist, doesnt have benefits, nor E.I. This is scary, because if she has to take time off she gets nothing, never mind an injury like one of her close friends recently had. Basically, we have no safety net and are barely making ends meet. Meanwhile, her work is really hard on her body. What I want to know is if anyone has an opinion or suggestion on how to make things more affordable. Btw I do work part time, but my average cheque is between 250-500$ every two weeks and it doesnt go far. Combine that with regular night shifts and a 12-hour minimum shift, and it creates major headaches.
