So at 6PM this evening it officially becomes winter and it is the shortest day of the year but after today the days will now also start getting longer as well. What does that mean? It means we are moving towards spring and a new stripers season. Hard to give you a report when no one seems to be fishing now. It could be there isnt much being caught or it is the cold windy weather we have been having as well. I have not even heard from any of the hard core people I know. Dont worry we are only about 3 months away from it all starting again. Oh one other thing you can do now is to get your 2015 Beach Buggy Permit because they are now on sale at the gatehouse at IBSP. Bottom fishing boats did good yesterday by some of the reports I got. Of course it was tog but some others that went further out also had sea bass and a bunch of porgies as well. No word on any cod or pollack but they have been catching them as well. BAY Believe it or not some are fishing Barnegat Bay for stripers. Behind IBSP and around the Oyster Creek area is where most are being caught. Small swimming plugs and plastic shads have been the ticket right now. I had reports of at least a dozen shorts being caught from the Oyster Creek area. Dont forget the striper season closes in the bays as of Dec. 31 at mid-night. FRESH Only a hand full of people out fishing because it being windy and a tad cold. Only a few reports came in yesterday and yes it is that time of year where if we get any reports we are lucky. Pickerel, crappie, and perch bite was good from what was reported and also a couple of bass were caught as well. I also had a couple of reports that the trout fishing up north is doing pretty good but as for where people are fishing they are not saying.
