He has wrestled since the sixth grade for Poway Slammers and Poway Elite. Celso won the La Costa Canyon Southern California freshman tournament, San Diego freshman and San Diego JV Championships in 2014. Last year, Celso was named co-outstanding freshman wrestler. Celso placed 2nd at the 2014 Grade State for all California freshmen. Celso recently placed 4th at the El Dorado tournament and 7th at the Hawks Nest tournament in Perris, CA. Celso’s goal is to wrestle at the University of Illinois and study to become a health care professional. Celso has an older brother that wrestled at Poway, Porfi Sosa, an older sister, and three younger siblings. This Christmas Celso gave his older sister one of the greatest gifts. On December 18th, Celso courageously completed a bone marrow transplant at Children’s Hospital for his older sister, Graciela, a junior at Poway High School. Graciela was diagnosed with Leukemia this past February and is fighting for her life. His high school days were a lot of fun but wrestling is his biggest memory of high school and has impacted his life the most of all his high school activities. Even though wrestling had a big impact on his life, according to Marc, his wrestling career at Poway was rather unspectacular. “I didnt accomplish much, as I was JV county champ my junior year and spent my senior year ironically enough battling a back injury and only competed in a few Varsity B squad tournaments. However, Poway wrestling taught me that hard work pays off. I developed a strong work ethic and always outwork my competition. I went off to college with the intention to wrestle but ended up doing MMA during my undergraduate years instead. I fought all over the country and even though I didnt wrestle in college I was still able to take down and submit many guys that wrestled in college. After those fights I was always asked where I wrestled in college and they were shocked when I told them I only wrestled in High School but most of them had heard of Poway. During that time I met a chiropractor who treated a lot of my injuries and inspired me to become a chiropractor.” Marc’s undergraduate studies were in Biology at Utah Valley University. Following that he attended the Palmer college of Chiropractic in San Jose for his last 4 years of school where he earned his Doctorate degree. Marc now runs his own chiropractic practice in Ranch Bernardo, Grow Chiropractic. He specializes in sports injuries and works with many professional and Olympic athletes. Marc is married and has two girls ages 3 and 1 and he and his wife are expecting a third baby in July 2015. Marc is praying for a boy, this time!
