12-29-14 My mom, my only parent, passed away one year ago today. Jocelyn and I honored her by doing her favorite thing....shopping!!! We ended up buying the dress at her favorite store (she spent many hours shopping for pageant gowns and prom dresses with Jocelyn). This store serves beer and popcorn to the men...in a man cave that plays sports channels. One time while shopping, we lost Grammie. I found her in the man cave grabbing a beer and bowl of popcorn. I went to tell her she could not do that, when she plopped down on the couch beside a middle aged man. She turned towards him and said, so do you think Carolina is gonna win? and the 2 proceeded to launch into a discussion about the basketball game on tv. I NEVER knew she watched basketball or was into sports! So I quietly walked away and let her have her treats and watch bb. Later, we could not find her again. Searched the whole store. Finally someone tells me that they thought they saw her leaving the store. I was frantic. In strolls mom, reeking of cigarette smoke and yellow stuff dribbled down her white shirt. I said, mom where did you go? She smiles and says, I wanted a Big Mac! She had seen McDonalds across the street and walked over and ordered and ate her Big Mac. And of course took the time to have a smoke break too! So heres to you mom.....your baby granddaughter found her perfect dress at your favorite store! I know you were there with us!
