12 Lincoln students participated in the 9th Annual St. Johns Preparatory School Model United Nations Conference this past Saturday in Danvers, Massachusetts. Despite being a late entry, in true Lincoln MUN fashion the girls feverishly prepared their diverse country profiles and topic overviews as outlined below. As you can see, there was a wide range of topics that the students had to prepare for. It was also the first conference for 7 of our students. Nevertheless, the students repeatedly stood apart as confident, intelligent, and focused participants. As individuals, Alice Bennett 16 received her 2nd commendation in 2 conferences as Costa Rica in the Commissioner for Refugees Committee. Congratulations, Lincoln Model UN! Our students represented the following countries in the following committees: Francesca Matarese 16 – Canada (Disarmament and Security – Drones) Marema Lo-Plynton 17 – South Africa (Disarmament and Security – Drones) Haley Gomes 18 – Italy (Food and Agricultural Committee – GMOs) Lily Martin 18 – Colombia (Food and Agricultural Committee – GMOs) Megan Garabedian 18 – United Kingdom (World Health Organization – Polio) Emily Elder 16 – Egypt (World Health Organization – Polio) Laura Davison 16 – Russia (World Health Organization – Ebola) Iman Izoli 18 – Malta (European Union – Economic Issues in Eurozone & Crimea) Larissa Klufas 16 – Ukraine (European Union – Economic Issues in Eurozone & Crimea) Alice Bennett 16 – Costa Rica (Commissioner for Refugees – Environmental Refugees) Sophie Colantuono 18 – Philippines (Commissioner for Refugees – Environmental Refugees) Caroline Morrow 16 – Arizona (United States Senate – Avoiding the Budget Crisis)
