#12548: My parents want me to be an engineer and for the longest time I’ve been trying to convince myself that this is what I wanted. I succeeded for the most part, I was excited about my future career. I was excited to be innovative and to help people. However, recently I keep seeing signs that I shouldn’t be an engineer. I barely passed physics and chemistry, and I’m still having troubles with math. I never expected engineering to be easy but I feel like I’m in a constant uphill battle to understand the things that my classmates see as “easy.” Luckily I’m not that deep into the core classes so I think I’ll take the leap and switch to something I feel more passionate about. It’s just hard to shake off the feeling that I’m going be a disappointment for a while but my parents are rather reasonable so I think they’ll get over it soon. The weird part for me though is the uncertainty I feel. Am I finally seeing reality, or am I not working hard enough to succeed in my major.
