12th Class Math Paper | Kashmir Student News Desk • Our students are not beggars : G.N Var • Announce the Re- Examination of Maths Paper as soon as possible : G.N Var A group of private schools in Jammu and Kashmir Sunday accused the board of school education of announcing good-for-nothing measures instead of calling a re-exam of maths paper for class 12th students. The group said the authorities have failed to grasp the situation arising out of the controversial maths paper. “It has already claimed one life and pushed thousands into depression,” said, G N Var, general secretary Private Schools United Front (JKPSUF). Thousands of students who had recently appeared for the annual class 12th exams had accused that the maths paper was out of syllabus. One of the student from central Kashmirs Ganderbal district had allegedly committed suicide after he failed to perform well in the math exam. “The school board is acting like an arrogant insensitive organization determined to punish students and defend itself,” Var said. After setting up a three- member panel to probe the allegations leveled by the students, the school board recently announced that it would give grace marks to the candidates. “Our students are not beggars, they have toiled hard for the subject and they want justice not any compensation,” said Var while reacting on the grace marks announcement. Many students say it was not a question of passing exam but building careers. JEE (Joint Entrance Examinations) gives 40 per cent weightage to board marks, so when the marks are low, the chances for Kashmir students to qualify decrease proportionately,” said Var. “Not only the chances of our students for IIT and IIE have decreased but we fear that our students won’t be able to grab a seat in our own National Institute of Engineering (NIT) which will be dominated by outside students,” he said. He asked the authorities to desist from these cosmetic measures and announce the re- examination of maths as soon as possible. #manager_sahib_imran
