12z outlook: Models have been starting to trend towards a more - TopicsExpress

12z outlook: Models have been starting to trend towards a more probable arctic airmass for the southern plains potentially around Wednesday/31. Our next chance of rain this week will perhaps be on this coming Wednesday but chances remain low with the best chance being over the eastern half of OK. Later on our next front looks to arrive by this coming Friday. This will keep temps in the mid and upper 40s till about New Years Eve morning when a very impressively sharp front will arrive early across the region and could have a fairly significant impact on morning lows and afternoon highs being the coldest we have seen all year. While this isnt concrete, this is something interesting to note considering if this were to verify out would be the first major step towards what could be a pretty harsh winter. There are indications that there could be some light wintry precip by early Wednesday morning of 12/31 as well. Primarily affect parts of central and western OK. details are still not very clear but more will emerge with time. Next outlook will be the 00z outlook later tonight.
