13 April 1983: Trevor Elliott, 38-year-old Protestant civilian, - TopicsExpress

13 April 1983: Trevor Elliott, 38-year-old Protestant civilian, married with 5 children and a shop manager was a Sergeant in the Territorial Army (TA) and a prominent unionist. He was walking to his car near the shop he worked at in Keady. Masked gunmen opened fire at close range hitting Mr Elliott 7 times as he left the shop at teatime. One of Mr Elliotts brothers said: his wife is still under heavy sedation. The full horror of the tragedy has not sunk in with her yet. At this stage we have no idea why he was singled out, but obviously they knew him and knew his movements. It has come as a complete shock. Mr Elliott was from Alexander Gardens, Armagh and was a drummer for the TAs pipe band. He had been a member of the Orange Order and a member of the Armagh Free Presbyterian Church, and a press officer for the Armagh branch of the Democratic Unionist Party. LEST WE FORGET!
