#13: CLPPNG by Clipping Genre: industrial hip hop/noise Rating: 7.8/10 Review: The rap trio turned heads with this LP, which was met with mixed reviews due to the minimalist yet harsh production which unsurprisingly might turn untrained ears away. Whilst lacking melody even for a hip hop record, the tracks are carried by intense rapping and some of the best storytelling through rhyme Ive ever heard. Although it suffers from some weak guest verses and one admittedly annoying track, the album is striking and dynamic thanks to wide variations of delivery, from a deathly quiet whispered chorus in Dream to a frantic, lightning fast flow on Story 2, which spirals in chaos before jumping headfirst into Dominoes, one of the most infectious rap songs in recent memory.
