13 years ago, a small group of psychopaths brought a powerful nation to a state of deep fear and anger. However, that day changed not the nature or patterns of evil people, just our awareness of it. There is a time for our nation to withdraw from conflict: when our interests are not at stake and there is nothing to gain by staying. However, there is also a time to take the fight to evil people whose only purpose is to cause chaos and terror. It is only the fool who fails to grasp the history and composition of his enemies or thinks that they will be anything but emboldened by withdraw, acquiescence, or ignorance. As a combat veteran myself, I pray that our nation only fight when necessary. But when this nation does commit to a purpose, I pray we invest all our resources and heart into accomplishing that purpose. When dealing with evil people, half-measures only make things worse. The troops and their families who have given so much over the last 13 years deserve our full commitment.
