13 years ago today, I was at a seminar at the Holiday Inn in Tappan being given by Tom Ferry, and he was telling us that the only one in control of our destinies was ourselves. A few minutes later, our broker came into the room and announced that we might want to take a 10 minute break to make sure our loved ones werent involved in a disturbance at the WTC. (I had worked at 2 WTC for 5 years! and had friends who worked at Windows on the World.) I went to the bar where the TV was playing and after a bit, they showed the first tower coming down. There was a sinking in the pit of my stomach and I knew our world would never be the same. I raced to the schools to get my kids out but they wouldnt dismiss them yet. I thanked God that the day my husband had picked to be at the WTC was the day before. And truly, our lives *have* never been the same. I was happy my mother had not been alive to see it.
