13 years ago today, I was in my dorm room in Manhattan.. I watched, along with my sorority sisters, as the towers crumbled. We watched at first from the television.. And then from our windows... We were so close... I remember the terror in peoples eyes.. the faces covered in soot on the ferries.. the survivors walking across the bridge. I remember being scared because our campus was on lock down.. Our freshman door was one of the tallest buildings in the area. I remember hearing the national guard flying overhead- so loud, so close. Our professors cancelled classes, our parents were desperate to reach us- just to hear our voices. In the days that followed, all the faces on flyers taped to scaffolding .. Families clinging to hope for the missing... So many faces. I will never forget that morning.
