13 years ago today, September 11th, 2001, I stood, ground zero, and bared witness to one of the most horrific tragedies in American history while on duty with the New York City Fire Department as a Supervising Fire Inspector. I find it almost impossible to describe how I felt that day, how many personal friends Ive loss, how many lives were loss, how many families was affected by losing their loved ones. I still feel guilt ridden, shameful, because I ran for my life, just like thousands others, a dishonorable secret I kept to myself for a long time. I still suffer psychological damage, and didnt know that it would cause an after effect many years to follow, but, it,too, shall pass. God bless all the heroes, victims, the families and those who still suffer from that abomination to this day.
