14 years ago, I was in Manassas, Virginia getting ready to meet my first baby girl, Isabel Mercedes. Labor only took 10 hours, which seemed like a breeze after my 20 hour labor with Juan. She was a beautiful but tough baby. Not the easy kind of baby all my friends had. As she got older she would express her opinions: Almost never allowing a barrett or hair bow in her hair and Mom, only Grandma Isis can speak Spanish to me. She still has loads of opinions but I know her iron will and perserverance will serve her well her whole life. She has already done so many cool things and shared so many memories with our family and I know its only the beginning. She may get annoyed with me sometimes because I expect a lot from her (I do for all my children) but its only because I know their gifts and how great they really are. The world is a better place because of my Isabel...maybe not first thing in the morning...but ususally ;-)
