14yrs ago at almost this exact moment, I was at my job which I had just started 5 days prior at Circuit City. I was putting away shipment in the computer software department. My manager approached me and said,Kari you have a phone call. I stopped what I was doing and took the phone call from my aunt. I listened to her say,Kar, its your Dad. He had a heart attack. Thats all I remember from that phone call, because I dropped the phone and crumbled to my knees. A co-worker and my boss helped me up and into the break room, but I wanted to leave right away. They said I needed to calm down and not drive in my state. So I took about 5 seconds and calmed down. I knew what would be coming if I stayed so I left and drove home. I was told a family member would be waiting for me at the house. Instead, there was a police officer waiting to take me to the hospital. That was when I knew life would never be the same. When I made it to the hospital, I was too late. I never got that last chance. He was gone. So, 14yrs ago may seem like a really long time to some, but to me its still like it was yesterday. Today is a day 14yrs ago I changed and that this earth lost a hero. My hero. My dad. I love you Daddy and Miss you so much everyday. #ForeverAndAlwaysTheWindBeneathOurWings
