15/09/2014 ANNOUNCEMENT MEETING WITH MINISTER OF JUSTICE Animal Party Cyprus has arranged a formal meeting tomorrow September 15, at 10:30am in Nicosia with the Minister of Justice and Public Order, Ioanas Nicolaou This meeting falls within the cycle of meetings that has continued without stop throughout the summer, starting with leaders or high officials of all the political party, as well as with government officials of the country, in order to inform them about the aims and objectives of our Party. Besides the briefing… Animal Party Cyprus will discuss with the Minister the following specific topics 1 The proposal by which we ask for amendment of the legislation 46 (I) 94, and for increased penalties, because we believe that the maximum imprisonment not exceeding one year or a fine is € 1.792 is not a deterrent, and does not reflect the seriousness of offences. 2 2 The creation of an independent body to initiate and oversee the coordinated functioning of the various authorities and stakeholders that have responsibilities for animal welfare: various ministries; Pancyprian Veterinary Association; Community Leaders Association; etc etc. 3 The issue of poisoning which has reached alarming proportions in our country. 4 The new arrangement concerning neighbourhood police officers and other related topics.
