15/1/2015. ॐ श्रीपरमात्मने नमः । WHAT ARE THE TYPES OF KARMA, ACTION? Before we conclude the subject action, let us have a look at various types of actions. The different scriptures have cited different types of action. As far as aspirant is concerned, this is totally useless and its knowledge is just burden on him. Yet for the sake of reference I shall give an account of it here. Krishna in Gita narrates three types of Karma: Karma (action prescribed by the scriptures), Akarma (intransitiveness or inaction) and Vikarma (action prohibited by the scriptures) (Gita-4/17). Krishna also talks at length about Sakaam Karma (Yagya, etc actions done with a view to get something in return of it) and Nishkaam Karma (the action done without any expectation, without the sense of doership and without any ego)(Gita-5/12). Krishna also talks about Satvik Karma (act of deriving bliss from within by meditation), Rajasi Karma (restlessness in actions) and Tamsi Karma (demonic actions coming out of idleness and anger) (Gita-14/4). Vedas also say about Nitya Karma (Daily worshiping, Sandhya etc, daily actions), Neimittik Karma (actions done in connection with some benefits) and Kamya Karma (actions done with an intention of getting something in return). But as I have said in beginning, this is the least important. Tomorrow we shall deal with new subject. हरिः ॐ तत् सत् ।
