15 photos from day 4. HEY, Hong Kong! IMAGINE. True democracy is here... if YOU want it. This post is a collaboration, we were lucky to have Gustav Lindgren as our official photographer of the day. Here he has captured the spirit of our pièce de résistance - a collective art piece - a garden of peace that grew a WORLD of love and support, for a free Hong Kong!! Dee Cheung and I had created signs to bring to the protest. I had a BED PEACE sign referencing John and Yokos historical bed-in, 1969. Dee had drawn flowers, yellow/blue/green umbrellas... symbolism galore. After days of going full activist, this time, we were going in mellow yellow to plant only love. The morning saw the city turned into one big bed-in with the slumbering sprawled all over. Efforts were made to maintain harmony as rumors flew of divisions. (Are the local triads getting involved? If so, how?) Are we to come in heavy force and strong hand, or continue our impassioned political expressions? Divided, too, on whether to go strong or go home... would the umbrella revolution be able to play the long game if the state was to wait us out? CY seemed unfazed. One thing was for certain: all this discussion was fueling a grassroots, mass communication movement. Online platform Add Oil Machine for OCLP (Occupy Central with Love and Peace) is seen projecting messages live onto building facades. Banners, post-its, flyers were creating a colorful collage onsite. Messages, supplies streamed through. Our wonderful friends at the Vine supplied the hungry with handmade sandwiches. Entire families were out for a field trip to see history taking place. A young boy rolled by on a wheelchair. Representations of diverse groups, ages, races...of different cultural, social, spiritual backgrounds were present. We looked to our own group and saw how international we were. Enter: the wall of world support! We had music (Beyond, The Beatles), glowsticks, frozen fruit supplied by the team while we collected countries represented in supporters passing by. 2 flags became 20, then 30... and counting! By the end of the night we had gathered a wall of countries but it was YOU, HONG KONG, YOU surprised us most. You showed us what we were capable of, together. Change will come. Whatever happens now, you have showed us that our true nature - shared by all humankind (yep, call me a hippy) - is that of FREEDOM, LOVE & PEACE. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE. #occupycentral #oclp #hk #hongkong #democracy #universalsufferage #occupyadmiralty #umbrellarevolution #peace #protest #makeartnotwar #makelovenotwar
